Innovative ways to reward loyalty

This September, Etihad Airways will launch the ‘Horizon Club’ — a Web3 loyalty programme where club members can lock up NFTs to earn Etihad Guest Miles for upgrades, flights, and other perks.

Etihad is already exploring how blockchain can deliver and maximise customer benefits and loyalty programs. In use today is the EY-ZERO1 NFT collection, which rewards Etihad Silver Tier status holders for one year, granting benefits like lounge access and priority check in. Beyond the airport, holders also enjoyed access to events, including a member’s night at the Yas Marina Circuit Formula 1 race.

These reward programs demonstrate how blockchain technologies can elevate customer reward and loyalty programs beyond the status quo.

Rewards have become prominent in recent years as marketplaces have become more crowded and people have less disposable income. When people shop, they turn to places that they trust.
